Mikael wants to see light in every window in the countryside

When Mikael Sillerström in Litsåsen decided to buy a neighbouring property, several outbuildings and a residential house were included in the purchase. His first thought was to tear down the residential house since it was in such bad shape, but then he had a change of heart.

“I am a rural patriot all the way down to my toes and I want to see light in the windows out here in the countryside. The house is perfect for a family with children who want to live in the country, have room for some horses or other operation and at the same time be close to town. Of course, you cannot be afraid to do a lot of renovations,” he says.

Mikael is an estate agent, but still chose not to sell the house himself. He simply did not want to confuse private business with his work.

“We have seen an increased interest in these empty houses in recent years so, it is high time to sell. More and more people have a desire to live a little secluded and perhaps run some kind of business such as vegetable farming or animal husbandry. The fact that these are renovation projects does not seem to deter; they are instead seen as an opportunity to put your own stamp on the home,” says Björn Löfgren, who has been commissioned to sell Mikael’s house.
